Linda Akutagawa
 
Linda Akutagawa is the Senior Vice President for Resource and Business Development at Leadership Education for Asian Pacifics, Inc. (LEAP), the only national, nonprofit organization focused on "growing leaders" of Asian and Pacific Islander heritage. A passionate social entrepreneur, Ms. Akutagawa brought her entrepreneurial skills to establish LEAP's mission focused, income-generating programs and services enabling LEAP to create an independent income stream. Today, her work spans from business and resource development to relationship building to leadership consulting, program design, development and delivery.
Over her 18-year career at LEAP, Linda has dedicated herself to inspiring Asian and Pacific Islanders to aspire to leadership roles in all sectors of society and serve as role models for diverse leadership. In her leadership programming work, she consults with corporations such as IBM, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Eli Lilly and Wells Fargo on Asian talent development and providing solutions to leverage Asian diversity and culture for professional success and greater organizational effectiveness.
 
She is a recognized expert on Asian employee network groups, helping to co-found the Corporate Asian American Employee Network (CAAEN) based in California's Greater San Francisco Bay Area. Ms. Akutagawa consults regularly with various emerging and established Asian employee resource groups around the country. She has facilitated several gatherings of employee network groups and is currently consulting with the Asia Society on their Employee Resource Group Diversity Leadership Conference.
 
A beneficiary of LEAP's leadership training, Ms. Akutagawa is committed to continuing the cycle of leadership development. In addition to her consulting work with corporations and in other sectors, she speaks and presents nationally and internationally on topics such as leadership, Asian cultural values and influences, employee resource groups, diversity, networking and personal branding to a range of audiences. Some of her clients include: BP America, Chubb and Sons, Cisco, Deloitte Consulting, Dial Corporation, ING, Kimberly Clark, Lockheed Martin, Macy's, Merck, Merrill Lynch, Visa.
 
Additionally, Linda has contributed subject matter expertise to DiversityInc, the Society of Human Resources Management Magazine, Monster.com and CNN.
 
Ms. Akutagawa is a member of Leadership America’s class of 2007.  She is the Chair of the BPSOS-OC Advisory Board, a member of the Board Directors of the Asian Women Leadership Network, an organization founded to promote the career development and advancement of Asian women professionals and a Board member of Japanese American Community Services (JACS), a community grantmaking organization. Previous to joining LEAP, Linda was the Marketing Manager for Japan and Orient Tours, a tour operator specializing in Asia and the Pacific. Linda received her B.S. in International Business with a minor in Economics from California State University at Los Angeles.
 
A second generation American and native Californian, she is conversant in Japanese.  Linda is married to Christopher Kho and the proud Aunt to 6 nephews and nieces.
