Andrea White
Andrea White is the Chief Privacy Officer of Toyota Motor Sales, USA Inc. (TMS).  As CPO, White is responsible for developing an enterprise-wide privacy program designed to balance the company’s sales and marketing needs with the growing compliance imperatives of an expanding regulatory environment. Her responsibilities include the development of an overall privacy strategy, collaboration with business to create privacy policies, advocacy for privacy as a competitive business strategy, as well as the implementation of general privacy training and awareness.
Before becoming Toyota’s first CPO, White spent 12 years in Toyota’s Legal Department, 2 years in charge of strategy for the company’s eBusiness Division and 3 years in the Information Systems Division overseeing information risk management strategy, governance, policy & training.
Prior to joining Toyota in 1988, White worked as an associate attorney handling real estate transactions at the law firm of Lillick, McHose & Charles in Los Angeles, California.
In 1983, White earned her bachelor of arts degree from the University of California in Los Angeles, including one year as an exchange student at the University of Göttingen, Germany.  She received her juris doctor degree from the University of Southern California in 1986. White is currently a member of the California Bar, the Association of Corporate Counsel, and served as a project Co-Chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) publication “International Guide to Privacy” (2004). She is a recognized expert in her field, particularly in the area of practical implementation of privacy programs.  White appeared as a panel speaker at the 2004 RSA Conference covering the topic: "Practical Privacy: Effectively Complying with Privacy Regulations in a Business Environment."  In February, 2005, White served on an expert panel for a national ABA teleconference entitled "How to Effectively Address Privacy Considerations in an ESP."
White is a Toyota Diversity Champion and an Advisory Council member of TODOS (Toyota Organization for the Development of LatinOS), a Toyota employee resource group.  She serves as a Business Liaison to the NCLR Corporate Board of Advisors, and was appointed to the initial Advisory Board of the Toyota Hispanic Family Literacy Program (a program of the National Center for Family Literacy). White has appeared as a speaker in the community on behalf of Toyota relating to issues of diversity & inclusion, corporate affinity organizations, mentoring, Hispanic leadership and the Toyota Way. Most recently, White was a panel speaker at the 2010 NCLR Annual Conference (Womens’ Issues Track), and the 2010 Innovation & Humanity Summit (“Diversity and the Changing Face of America’s Corporations”). Coming up, White is scheduled as the luncheon keynote speaker at the Center for Hispanic Leadership Summit on September 18, 2010, and she will represent Toyota at the Hispanic Scholarship Fund - Education Summit on October 5, 2010. White is currently featured on the Hispanics Today website (feature originally aired in March, 2008).
White resides in Rolling Hills Estates, California, with her husband, William, and their daughter, Audrey.
